A British doctor has admitted to administering a fake Covid-19 vaccine to try to murder his mother’s companion.
Thomas Kwan, 53, of Sunderland, planned a complex plan that included falsifying medical documents, posing as a nurse, and injecting his victim with poison.
The event occurred in Newcastle, where Kwan pretended to be a healthcare practitioner to gain access to his mother’s partner, Patrick O’Hara.
After taking his mother’s blood pressure, Kwan injected O’Hara with a deadly chemical, causing the victim to develop necrotising fasciitis, a potentially fatal flesh-eating bacterial illness. Fortunately, O’Hara made it through the trauma.
Kwan, who was accused with attempted murder, pleaded guilty shortly after his trial began at Newcastle Crown Court. He had already guilty to a second allegation of administering a hazardous drug.

Prosecutor Peter Makepeace summarized the strange case, emphasizing Kwan’s motivations as fears over his mother’s will, which stated that O’Hara would get her home if he was still alive when she died.
“Mr. Kwan used his encyclopaedic knowledge of, and research into, poisons to carry out his plan,” Makepeace stated.
The prosecutor also stated that Kwan painstakingly organized the attack, checking into a hotel under a false name, using false registration plates, and wearing a wig to conceal his identity.
The circumstances of this case have received a lot of attention, exposing Kwan’s severe measures to do the horrible murder.
The trial continues as the court determines the full scope of Kwan’s acts and intents.
